Full Description
This catalogue, which has been unavailable for more than a decade, is here reissued with a supplement prepared by the author and originally published in "Anglo-Saxon England", Volume 5. The work describes all manuscripts written earlier than 1200 AD in which there is any writing in the vernacular, with the exception of cartularies and single-sheet documents. There are full descriptions of the 200 principal manuscripts and brief descriptions of manuscripts in which Anglo-Saxon occurs in the form of short notes, glosses and scribbles. An appendix includes manuscripts written in Anglo-Saxon by continental scribes.
